The Awards Keep Coming In 🥇

I was proud to be able to present the Superbugs website at the Annual Congress of the British Society for Immunology, which was held in Edinburgh from 28 November to 1 December 2021. 🏰

The Congress was attended by around 1,200 national and international delegates, and after more than 18 months of working from home it was a fantastic opportunity to finally meet colleagues, friends, collaborators and some of the leading scientists in the world in person again.

The event was made even more special by my hotel’s strategically well placed location, directly opposite the impressive Edinburgh Castle and next to the Cat Café “Maison de Moggy” — arguably the two main attractions for visitors of this beautiful city.

The best Cat Café in Europe, according to the EasyJet Traveller magazine in 2018

Under the critical eyes of my own cat 😼, I had prepared a poster with a summary of the Superbugs website, together with some preliminary feedback obtained from our first users. I then displayed it for the duration of the conference, on behalf of the whole Superbugs team, alongside the presentations of the other delegates — there were more than 600 posters in total!

And what can I say.

The judges were so impressed by our work that we were awarded the Poster Prize in the “Education & Public Engagement” category. 🏆

Yay!!

A special shout-out to Yvonne and her Year 6 class at Tredegarville C.i.W. Primary School without whom this would not have been possible!
